
Dili, 27 October 2024 – On Friday, the President of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mr. Nelyo Isaac Sarmento, presided over the third ordinary NSC meeting held at the Magna Meeting Room at the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Art, and Culture. The meeting, attended by the Executive Secretary of NSC, Commissioners, and NSC staff, addressed several important agendas to enhance the support for national athletes and sports governance in Timor-Leste.

The meeting covered the decision on rewards for Paralympic athlete, Mr. Teofilo Freitas and other medalist athletes from the ASEAN University Games (AUG) 2014. Additionally, the NSC reviewed the draft decree for the Timor-Leste National Authority for Integrity in Sports (TL-NAIS) and agreed to finalize it for submission to the Council of Ministers. This decree is expected to play a vital role in promoting integrity and fairness in sports across the country. Other items included presenting criteria for the attribution of public utility status and introducing the Sports Organization Information System (SIOD).
The discussions highlighted the NSC’s commitment to supporting Timor-Leste’s athletes and promoting integrity in sports, laying the groundwork for further developments to benefit the nation’s sporting community.
